Our laboratory is COLA and CLIA certified.  Our laboratory personnel perform measurements and testing daily on all of our testing modalities to ensure that only the most accurate and reliable results are obtained when our lab reports out patient results.  Our laboratory personnel and our providers participate in monthly Proficiency Testing exercises supplied by an outside agency to ensure that we maintain our excellence in laboratory procedures and that our laboratory results meet the highest levels of accuracy and reliability. Specific testing that is performed in our laboratory is as follows:

Complete Blood Count analysis, Cholesterol testing, Glucose/Sugar testing, Hemoglobin A1C testing for diabetes management, screening for lead exposure, Urinalysis, C-Reactive Protein testing, pregnancy testing, Pap smears, testing for Influenza (flu), testing for Mononucleosis, testing for Strep throat, testing for RSV, testing for Rotavirus.

Utilizing a small sample of blood, we perform an in-office evaluation on that sample and expose it to the most common environmental and food sources that cause allergic reactions.  If it is determined that the patient would benefit from Immune Therapy (allergy shots), the shots can be scheduled to be given in our office as a convenience to our patients.

Many of our providers have a special interest in asthma management and stay current on the most up-to-date therapies and medications available on the market to allow their patients to get the most out of their daily living and have the least interference from their asthma.  We are capable of providing in-depth testing, analysis and monitoring of our asthma patients’ lung status by use of quick and painless spirometry.  With spirometry, a patient exhales quickly into a device.  Calculations are performed on a computer and the patient’s results are compared to the patient’s previous results and standardized norms for age.  The objective data from spirometry is invaluable in evaluating a patient’s true lung function and formulating a plan for treatment and management.  Even though a patient with asthma may “feel” fine, spirometry determines how his/her lungs are doing.

ABC Pediatrics employs Michael Martin, a full-time, in-office Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with over 22 years experience in the mental health field, as a member of our health care team.  Mr. Martin is available by appointment for his established patients and is also available daily if an urgent need should arise at any time.  Mr. Martin is an integral part in the treatment and management of our patients with behavioral issues, such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and conduct disorders.  He has been well received and praised for his work with adolescents.  He is also well skilled in family counseling and is flexible in scheduling these meetings.

ABC Pediatrics offers Medical Ear Piercing with only the highest quality, medical grade products.  We offer a wide variety of styles and designs.  The procedure is performed by trained medical personnel under aseptic conditions.  The ear lobes are prepared with a numbing cream and placement of the earrings are done in both lobes simultaneously.  The process takes minutes and is almost painless.  After the procedure, care instructions are reviewed and given to the patient/parent.  This procedure can be performed on any individual six months and older with appropriate consent.

ABC Pediatrics is proud to be a leader in our community with regard to implementation and utilization of a fully integrated Electronic Health Records system for improved efficiency in the delivery of health care to our patients.

We also offer the capability of secure, fully encrypted on-line communications between our office, our providers and our patients.  Our patients can request appointments, request medication refills, discuss charges on their account, review laboratory results, request documentation from their health record to include office visit notes, immunization records and/or well visit physical exam results, or simply ask a question of their provider,  all through the convenience of their own home.  All that is required is an internet connection and an e-mail account.
